The HEAL Initiative is offering the Pain Research Enhancement Program (PREP) grant to bolster rigorous basic and mechanistic pain research. This grant is designed to support R15-eligible Principal Investigators (PIs) in conducting essential studies aimed at understanding pain mechanisms. Furthermore, it encourages the formation of integrated, interdisciplinary research partnerships among R15-eligible PIs and other U.S. domestic investigators. A key objective is to significantly enhance the pain research environment at participating R15-eligible institutions. This enhancement is achieved by actively involving health professional trainees, undergraduate, and graduate students in the proposed research projects, fostering a new generation of pain researchers. This initiative aims to advance scientific understanding and expand research capacity in pain management.
