This U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service grant program, operating under the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA), is a competitive, matching initiative designed to support public-private partnerships across the United States. This grant is for the purpose of funding projects that ensure the long-term protection, restoration, enhancement, and establishment of wetland and associated upland habitats. These efforts aim to benefit the diversity of wetland ecosystems and maintain abundant populations of waterfowl and other wetland-associated migratory birds, aligning with various national and continental bird conservation plans. A key requirement is a 1:1 non-federal match, and research funding is strictly ineligible. The program directly supports the Department of Interior and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s mission of conserving the nation’s natural resources.
