Agency Name: Ghana USAID-Accra
Description:

The purpose of this Activity is to replicate and scale-up HIPs within urban and peri-urban settings for the target countries by engaging with government, private sector, and other FP implementing partners.

Replication in the context of this program description means a practice that has been modeled or piloted with high quality and expected good results is picked up in another area, adapted to the local context, and implemented with a degree of fidelity to the original pilot/model and this replicated practice produces similarly good results. Scale-up is widely considered to be the “deliberate efforts to increase the impact of successfully tested health innovations to benefit more people and to foster policy and programme development on a lasting basis.”[1] In the context of this program description, it means that the practice is considered a normal or expected way of providing the service across the targeted area. Scale should be measured across the targeted geographies as well as nationally, as ExpandPF will seek to replicate HIPs with implementers in all parts of the country in and beyond the activity targeted districts. ExpandPF will need to engage with the host country government to support replication and scale-up of the selected HIPs from ExpandPF sites to government-led zones to promote sustainability. USAID expects that approaches to implement and scale the selected HIPs will be tailored and adapted to each country and context, in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders in each country.
