Description: Purpose:The purpose of this FOA is to: 1) determine the effectiveness of a stepped care approach toreducing depression symptomology and increasing treatment rates among pregnant and postpartumwomen; 2) determine the feasibility of implementing a stepped care approach to depression treatmentin obstetric clinics; and 3) develop recommendations for implementing best practice strategies forincorporating a stepped-care approach in obstetric clinics. Results of this FOA may inform nationalguidelines regarding depression care for pregnant and postpartum women.

Additional Information on Eligibility: Applicants must have the support of one or more obstetric clinics in which the project will be implemented. The principal investigator of the project must have experience as an investigator or co-investigator in conducting a randomized control trial among pregnant and/or postpartum women, experience conducting clinical research on mental health topics, and experience disseminating the findings in peer-reviewed publication(s). The applicant must have, as part of the research team, an obstetrician and a mental health specialist (e.g. psychiatrist, psychologist, or counselor with appropriate credentials).
