This grant is for the purpose of enhancing counterterrorism capabilities in Tajikistan, a critical Central Asian nexus where ISIS-K seeks to exploit vulnerabilities for recruitment and illicit cross-border activities. Despite risks from rugged borders and illicit movement, the primary terrorist threat is the potential for groups to inspire and organize attacks. This project will develop early detection strategies for at-risk communities, focusing on frontier localities, to detect, report, and respond to illicit trends. By building Tajikistan’s capacity for early interdiction of terrorist activity at its source, this initiative directly contributes to safeguarding America’s borders and national security against evolving threats in the region.
