The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) offers a five-year Demonstration grant. This initiative targets rural youth aged 16-21, including those in Tribal communities, who lack strong family or community support as they transition to independence. The grant aims to influence policies and practices impacting services for runaway and homeless youth in Transitional Living Programs (TLP), and those aging out of child welfare into Independent Living Programs (ILP). Specifically, it funds states to collaborate with local community-based organizations. “Rural” is defined as areas under 20,000 population outside Standard Metropolitan Statistical Areas. The Children’s Bureau will provide technical assistance to support ILP grantees’ engagement in this critical project.
