Additional Information on Eligibility: To be eligible to receive a grant to establish or maintain a National Indian Resource Center Addressing Domestic Violence and Safety for Indian Women (NIRC) under Section 310 of the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) as amended by Section 201 of the CAPTA Reauthorization Act of 2010, Pub. L. 111-320, an entity must be a tribal organization or a private, non-profit organization that focuses on domestic violence within Indian tribes and that has experience working with Indian tribes and tribal organizations to respond to domestic violence; and experience providing Indian tribes and tribal organizations with assistance tribally-based domestic violence/dating violence prevention and intervention services addressing the safety of Indian women. For additional details on the eligibility requirements for the NIRC please see Section 310 (c) (2) of the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act, as amended by Section 201 of the CAPTA Reauthorization Act of 2010, Pub. L. 111-320. Faith-based and community organizations that meet eligibility requirements are eligible to receive awards under this funding opportunity announcement. Individuals, foreign entities, and sole proprietorship organizations are not eligible to compete for, or receive, awards made under this announcement.

Description: The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF), Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) announces the solicitation of applications for one award under the Family Violence Prevention and Services Discretionary Grants program to support the National Indian Resource Center Addressing Domestic Violence and Safety for Indian Women (NIRC). The NIRC will offer a comprehensive array of technical assistance and training resources to Indian Tribes and tribal organizations, specifically designed to enhance the capacity of the Tribes and tribal organizations to respond to family violence, domestic violence, and dating violence as well as increase the safety of Indian women. The NIRC programming should address findings of Section 901 of the Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act of 2005, Pub. L. 109-162 (42 U.S.C. 3796gg). The NIRC is part of a network of National and Special Issue Resource Centers providing leadership and support to the existing programs serving victims of domestic violence and their children.
The original funding opportunity (FOA) announcing the availability of awards for National and Special Issue Resource Centers (HHS-2011-ACF-ACYF-EV-0188) has been cancelled. The original FOA is replaced by four FOAs that solicit applications for the four types of centers separately.
