The Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) is offering this grant to address the critical societal challenge of adapting agroecosystems and natural resource systems to climate variability and change, while also implementing effective mitigation strategies. This grant is specifically designed to achieve long-term outcomes that reduce resource consumption, including energy, nitrogen, and water, in the production of food, feed, fiber, and fuel. A key purpose is also to significantly decrease greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural practices and enhance carbon sequestration. AFRI supports various project types under this initiative, including multi-functional Integrated Research, Education, and/or Extension Projects, alongside Food and Agricultural Science Enhancement (FASE) Grants, fostering comprehensive approaches to climate resilience in agriculture.
