The Office of Polar Programs (OPP)’s Antarctic Sciences Section (ANT) offers this grant to expand fundamental knowledge of Antarctic systems, biota, and processes, improve understanding of global interactions, and utilize Antarctica as a unique science observing platform. The U.S. Antarctic Program (USAP) provides logistical support for research. While fieldwork is supported only when essential to be performed in Antarctica, ANT highly encourages research utilizing existing samples, data, and models that do not require fieldwork. This grant also emphasizes and encourages interdisciplinary approaches to address complex Antarctic scientific questions.
