Description: This FOA solicits applications to participate in the Autoimmunity Centers of Excellence (ACE) program, a cooperative network intended to improve the understanding and treatment of autoimmune diseases (www.autoimmunitycenters.org).The ACE program was founded on the premise that collaboration among basic and clinical scientists can accelerate both fundamental and applied research.For this reissued FOA, the formerly integrated Centers are divided into Basic and Clinical research programs.This FOA solicits applications for the Basic research program; a companion FOA solicits applications for the Clinical research program. The members of the Basic and Clinical ACE will work together to design and conduct studies of mechanisms of action of the immune-modulating agents being tested in the clinical trials.
