Description: This project will provide financial support to conduct experimental research for integrated pest management in agricultural fields in collaboration with private producers, to see if there is a better way to harvest or process straw products/dog bedding to better insure it is weed free. Research is needed to develop a reliable source for weed free products that is acceptable for use for dog bedding during winter dog sled mushing activities. The product needs to be a biodegradable natural fiber mateiral that can be produced in Alaska and meet the needs of weed free product requirements (according to the BLM Alaska Invasive Species Management Policy.
