This grant is for funding youth conservation teams to undertake vital restoration and maintenance projects on public lands across California. Administered by BLM California, the initiative focuses on reclaiming and restoring arid lands and sensitive ecosystems impacted by activities such as off-highway vehicle use, other recreational pursuits, mining operations, and general surface disturbances. Teams will be involved in closing and restoring designated routes, as well as constructing and maintaining essential recreation facilities like campgrounds, picnic areas, and visitor centers. Additionally, projects include installing signage, stabilizing cultural sites, and rehabilitating areas affected by wildland fires, thereby enhancing environmental health and public access to California’s natural resources.
