This Bureau of Land Management (BLM) OR-WA grant aims to support critical ecological analysis within the dry, fire-prone mixed-conifer forests and oak woodlands of the Rogue Basin. This grant is for two key projects designed to inform and enhance future restoration efforts. The first project will meticulously document the current and historic species composition, size distribution, and spatial structure of presettlement stands in low-elevation areas south of Trail. Concurrently, the second project will assess the historical and present extent of vital oak systems throughout the Rogue River Basin, determining their relative resilience to ongoing climate changes. This comprehensive analysis will provide essential data for effective ecosystem management.
