Description: The University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History (UOMNCH) is Oregon’s primary repository for anthropological and paleontological collections. UOMNCH is the recognized federally accepted repository of prehistoric collections in Oregon and is recognized as such under Oregon State law.

The University of Oregon (UO) summer archaeological field school has maintained an active program of research and training in archaeology since 1937. The BLM has partnered with UO since 1988 to conduct such summer archaeology field schools and over the course of these many years, archaeological artifacts and other related materials such as soil samples, radiocarbon samples and faunal and botanical specimens have been uncovered and collected. These materials have been temporarily housed in an office/laboratory on the UO campus in preparation for long term curation at UOMNCH.

The objective of this grant is to help defray costs of curation and moving previously collected archaeological collections into permanent storage at the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History.
