This grant is for the purpose of tackling the pervasive challenge of noxious weeds throughout Lake County, Oregon. Recognizing the county’s extensive size and its approximately 20 distinct watershed councils, this project prioritizes a collaborative effort. It will facilitate essential cooperation between these watershed councils and the BLM to actively control, meticulously inventory, and effectively restore both public and adjoining private lands. The initiative specifically targets all watersheds currently affected by noxious weeds, ensuring a comprehensive and coordinated approach. Ultimately, this significant cooperative undertaking is designed to enable the vital restoration and enhancement of critical wildlife habitat and other valuable natural resources, particularly on public lands, thereby benefiting multiple land ownerships and watersheds across the region.
