| Description: | This project would involve a non-federal partner in the development of science-based management strategies for the first NCAs designated in Utah, as part of BLMs National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS). Principle tenets of NLCS management include using Science and Research to guide actions in the units and Partnerships to involve non-federal entities in the stewardship of these public lands.
The partnership created through this agreement would augment BLMs capacity in the development of GIS-based ecological condition data and modeling predictions about future ecological conditions under differing public land management scenarios. These data would support BLMs development of management goals, objectives, and actions for the new RMPs for each NCA. This project would also develop GIS-based modeling scenarios related to differing management and restoration strategies that include cost-benefit analyses. The public would particularly benefit from the scenario analyses as these would identify the most cost-effective strategies and technologies to conserve, protect, and enhance ecological conditions in the two NCAs. |
