The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, through its Study of the U.S. Branch, is offering this grant to design and implement twelve Study of the U.S. Institutes for Student Leaders. This grant is for accredited U.S. post-secondary education institutions and public/private non-profit organizations to host five-week academic programs. Each institute will gather 20 foreign undergraduate students, focusing on critical themes such as Civic Engagement, Global Environmental Issues, Religious Pluralism, Social Entrepreneurship, or Women’s Leadership. The purpose of this grant is to foster a deeper understanding of U.S. society, culture, and institutions among international youth. Applicants can propose to implement one or two institutes. The department anticipates awarding 6 to 12 Cooperative Agreements, contingent on FY 2013 funding.

Applicants may submit a proposal to implement one or two Institutes. Taking place over the course of five weeks at a U.S. academic institution, each Institute should be organized for a group of 20 foreign undergraduate students focusing on one of the above themes. Information on the scheduling of the Institutes and grouping of participants can be found in Section I.4. ECA plans to award 6 to 12 Cooperative Agreements for the administration of up to 12 Study of the U.S. Institutes for Student Leaders and welcomes applications from accredited post-secondary education institutions in the United States and public and private non-profit organizations (see Eligibility Information, section III). The awarding of Cooperative Agreements for these programs is contingent upon the availability of FY 2013 funds. |
