Description: | The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is publishing this notice to announce that it is seeking applications for funding for one or more BJS Visiting Fellows to work in its Criminal Justice Statistics Program. The purpose of this program is to address substantive, methodological, and analytic issues to enhance or inform BJS statistical programs; support the scholarly use of BJS data collections; and expand the body of policy-relevant research that uses these data to further knowledge about and understanding of the operation of the criminal justice system.
BJS’s Visiting Fellows Program (www.bjs.gov/content/fellows.cfm) aims to facilitate collaboration between academic scholars and government researchers in survey methodology, statistics, economics, and social sciences. BJS Visiting Fellows have the unique opportunity to address substantive, methodological, and analytic issues relevant to BJS programs and to further knowledge about and understanding of the operation of the criminal justice system. Fellows may conduct research at BJS or at their home site, use BJS data and facilities, and interact with BJS staff. Fellowship applicants should have a recognized research record or considerable expertise in their area of proposed research. Applicants must submit a detailed research proposal, which will be evaluated on the applicability of the research to BJS programs, the value of the proposed research to science, and the quality of the applicant’s research record. Qualified women and members of minority groups are encouraged to apply. |
