The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is offering this grant for a comprehensive assessment of elder abuse, mistreatment, and neglect. This grant is specifically designed to support the collection and analysis of administrative data from Adult Protective Services (APS) agencies and local law enforcement regarding cases of suspected elder abuse. The program has two primary objectives: first, to meticulously examine the characteristics of these cases and their reporting routes, aiming to understand how specific factors impact case outcomes; and second, to ascertain the feasibility of establishing an ongoing, expanded collection system for administrative data on elder abuse, mistreatment, and neglect. This initiative seeks to deepen our understanding of this pressing issue through systematic data analysis.
