This department, the Bureau of Land Management New Mexico (BLM NM), is offering the FY24 Fuels Management and Community Fire Assistance Program grant. This grant, funded through the IIJA and IRA, is for the purpose of significantly enhancing wildfire resilience and protecting communities across New Mexico. It supports critical activities like hazardous fuels reduction, including forest thinning, prescribed burning, and brush clearing on public and adjacent lands. The program also provides vital assistance to local communities for comprehensive fire prevention, mitigation, and preparedness efforts. This initiative aims to empower communities to better manage wildfire risks, safeguard lives and property, and promote healthier, more resilient landscapes. Collaboration among federal, state, local, and tribal entities is encouraged to implement effective, long-term wildfire management strategies.
