Description: | This project seeks to extend and refine an existing Community Based Monitoring (CBM) program to better connect existing efforts, improve upon them, and provide continuity for this valuable program. The Cooperative Agreement will provide environmental observations that will assist the Bureau in meeting mandated mission. The observation data will be used by the federal government through BOEM in its NEPA analyses and may also have utility when developing the Bureau’s Five Year Program in assessing the effects of climate change. The proposed agreement also seeks to refine and expand the existing program to reach a broader public in the North Slope and Kenai Peninsula Boroughs, and to promote the utility of CBM for the rest of the Arctic. This agreement also aims to enhance interoperability, quality control, and scientific rigor within the LEO network. |
