This grant is offered to support the Cancer Research Network (CRN), a vital research resource consortium comprising research organizations within non-profit Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs). The purpose of this funding is to redefine CRN’s role as a broader, integrated resource available to the wider cancer research community. CRN’s unique value stems from its ability to provide integrated access to extensive clinical datasets from large, stable, and diverse patient populations, accessible through its ‘parent’ HMOs. Furthermore, the expertise of CRN researchers in conducting clinical cancer research with substantial clinical data sets makes this grant crucial for advancing comprehensive and impactful cancer studies.

Description: | The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support the Cancer Research Network (CRN), a research resource consortium involving as “Members” research organizations within several non-profit Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs). Originally, CRN was focused on collaborative research made possible through integrated access to clinical datasets from the participating institutions. This FOA uses a different funding mechanism and redefines the role of CRN as a broader resource for cancer researchers at large. The uniqueness of CRN as a cancer resource stems from: (1) the integrated access to clinical data for large, stable, and diverse patient populations that are available through the “parent” HMOs; and (2) the expertise of CRN researchers in conducting clinical cancer research involving large sets of clinical data. |
