Agency Name: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Description: The purpose of the program announcement is for The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to announces the availability of fiscal year (FY) 2014 funds for a cooperative agreement to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control programs in resource-limited countries. The purpose of the program is to assist the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD) in providing technical assistance and conducting training programs for National TB Control Programs (NTPs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other interested partners to strengthen TB treatment and control efforts worldwide. These collaborative activities can profoundly ensure the implementation of activities that are designed to strengthen the effectiveness of TB, Multidrug-resistant (MDR) TB and Extensively drug-resistant (XDR) TB control programs and related activities.

Measurable outcomes of program progress will be in alignment with the following performance goal for the National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP): “Increase the percentage of TB patients (this includes MDR-TB) who complete a course of curative TB treatment within 12 months of initiation of treatment (some patients require more than 12 months).”

This program addresses the “Healthy People 2020” focus area of TB reduction. Healthy People 2020 requirements are not applicable to foreign entities.
