Description: Through this funding announcement, the CDC seeks to fund innovative projects with the potential to yield high impact public health findings or strategies that will decrease the overall burden of disease and increase the health and well-being of the population. The CDC is a partner of the Roll Back Malaria (RBM) initiative, a partnership that seeks to support and coordinate global malaria program scale-up and evaluation efforts. As a partner, CDC has been building and working with numerous international networks, consortia, and partnerships to achieve the RBM targets. The proposed program is intended to expand CDC’s network of collaborating institutes for both research and technical assistance to targeted African countries, with a particular focus on research to advance malaria control efforts. Specifically for this FOA in Uganda, the purpose of this announcement is to

1) conduct malaria operational research and monitoring and evaluation activities in Uganda in conjunction with the national malaria program and other partners;
2) develop and validate the impact of revised, enhanced or novel interventions that will contribute to effective malaria control;
3) assist the Ministry of Health in translating operational research findings into public health practice in Uganda, and insure sharing of expertise and research findings with other partners and countries.
