| Description:: | CDC is committed to working with public health systems to ensure planners, developers, and implementers of public health initiatives possess the skills and resources needed to better address HIV in the U.S. and its territories. The purpose of this FOA is to support AIDS Directors and HIV Prevention Program Managers in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Pacific Islands in complying with the responsibilities established in NHAS, HIP, and address the:Increased demand for the development of appropriate public health policies created by changes in the public health systems and HIV prevention landscape.Demand for a timely dissemination of information around CDCs programs, policy changes, and updates.Implementation of more effective mechanisms to disseminate information.Development of strategic national and local partnerships with public and private sectors to supply the demand created by reduction in resources available for services.The implementation of practice based approaches that have been proven to be successful and most easily acquired through peer-to-peer support for program development, planning, management and administration to meet the changes in the public health systems and HIV prevention landscape.This program will ensure the provision of high-quality technical assistance to facilitate active communication, consultation, and problem solving between the CDC and the State and Territorial AIDS Directors and HIV Prevention Program Managers. These services will support the implementation of high impact HIV prevention programs in order to achieve maximal results in addressing HIV and reducing new HIV infections. Services provided under this FOA are geared to enhance the quality and performance of the workforce, organizational structures, and health systems for a high-impact approach to HIV prevention to reduce HIV infection and related health disparities across the U.S. and its territories.This program addresses the Healthy People 2020 and supports the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention initiatives of Program Collaboration and Service Integration and Health Equity. |
