Additional Information

Agency Name: National Park Service
Description: This is a notice of intent only. This task agreement will provide 32 “Park Vital Signs” monitoring networks throughout the country to collect primary and secondary water-quality parameter data in impaired, threatened, and Outstanding National/State Resource waters. In a parallel effort, the NPS Water Resources Division (WRD) and Colorado State University (CSU) students and staff have been actively populating a local copy of STORET with water-quality data collected by park staff, contractors, and cooperators. This data has been used by CSU and WRD to prepare Baseline Water Quality Data Inventory and Analysis Reports for public use. These reports provide the foundation for establishing the long-term water-quality monitoring program within each “Park Vital Signs” monitoring network and can assist states in preparing their statewide 305(b) water quality assessments and 303(d) impairment lists under the Clean Water Act. Additionally, where Baseline Water Quality Data Inventory and Analysis Reports have identified a lack of data for key waterbodies, the NPS has contracted for short-term “Level I” baseline water-quality data collection efforts to eliminate the data gaps.
