This Colorado State University grant is for the critical purpose of digitally migrating National Park Service (NPS) water-right dockets. The initiative involves reviewing approximately 79,000 scanned water-right docket images and their associated database descriptors, currently in Microsoft Access. The core objective is to convert these vital documents into individual PDF files. Subsequently, these PDFs will be uploaded to NRINFO, an internal NPS platform, to facilitate easy viewing and downloading. This modernization effort will significantly benefit NPS staff, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the Solicitor, and the general public by providing improved access to crucial water-rights documentation for National Park Units.

| Description: | THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT ONLY. This agreement is to review water-right dockets that have been scanned in Microsoft Office ACCESS. The dockets contain documents supporting water rights for National Park Units. These docket images (some 79,000) and their descriptors in the database will be converted to PDF files and uploaded to NRINFO (a National Park Service website hosting natural-resources data) for viewing and downloading by NPS staff, U.S. Department of the Justice, Office of the Solicitor, and the general public.
One PDF file will be created for each docket. A report template has been created in ACCESS. A report for each docket will be printed to Leadtools ePrint, where the PDF file is created along with bookmarks. Adobe Acrobat Professional is then used to clean up the PDF file, if necessary, before it is uploaded to NRINFO. |
