Additional Information on Eligibility: This financial assistance opportunity is being issued under a Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) Program. CESU¿s are partnerships that provide research, technical assistance, and education. Eligible recipients must be a participating partner of the Californian Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) Program.

Additional Information

Agency Name: Geological Survey
Description: The overarching objective of this research is the integration of several scientific disciplines to develop an integrated 2D/3D seismic-reflection model that contains the mapping of seismic horizons, faults, karst features, and porosity, and the spatial distribution the probability of vertical fluid migration throughout much of the Miami-Dade County, Florida area. The quality of these products, especially porosity, is contingent on data acquisition geometry and data quality, and processing quality. The 3D seismic-reflection model will be produced so that it can be exported into a 3D geomodel, which in turn can be exported into groundwater-flow simulations to evaluate the risk of vertical upward migration of wastewater that has been injected into the lower part of the FAS into brackish water drinking-water supply zones in the upper FAS.
