(CESU) Program

Description: The U. S. Geological Survey¿s Greater Everglades Priority
Ecosystem Research Program is offering a funding
opportunity to a CESU partner for research in modeling
the biological control of invasive plants as part of the
Across Trophic Level System Situation (ATLSS) program.
This is aimed at the sustainable control of two invasive
plant species in southern Florida that have caused
substantial harm to the environment; the water hyacinth
((Eichhornia crassipes) and the Melaleuca tree (Melaleuca
quinquenervia). The request is for the development of
simulation models that can be used in combination with
ongoing experimental and field research by the Department
of Agriculture¿s Invasive Plant Research Laboratory
(IPRL).
