Agency Name: DARPA – Microsystems Technology Office
Description: Amendment 03: The purpose of this amendment is to add to the proposal preparation instructions, “Technical Rationale and Approach,” a requirement to provide a complete power budget for the proposed DODOS, by component and by phase. All changes are highlighted in yellow in the attached conformed DARPA-BAA-14-31 document.

Amendment 02: The purpose of this amendment is to delineate two separate Technical Areas. Technical Area 1 is the comprehensive DODOS Technology Development effort (e.g., the principle objective of the DoDOS program, as currently defined in the BAA), and Technical Area 2 is for Advanced Studies for exploration of alternative or supporting micro-scale optical frequency synthesis technologies which are directly relevant to the comprehensive DODOS program objectives. All changes are highlighted in yellow in the attached conformed DARPA-BAA-14-31 document.

Amendment 01: The purpose of this amendment is to further clarify/establish the “DODOS Program Objectives” depicted in Part II, Section I(B) of the Broad Agency Announcement (BAA). All changes are highlighted in yellow in the attached conformed DARPA-BAA-14-31 document. Original Synopsis below. DARPA is soliciting innovative research proposals in the area of chip-scale optical frequency synthesis, providing a pure-tone optical output with a precise and accurate frequency relationship to a reference radio-frequency input. The program seeks to address challenges associated with realizing an integrated optical frequency synthesizer with unprecedented reductions in cost, size, weight, and power (CSWaP). The main objective of the Direct On-chip Digital Optical Synthesizer (DODOS) program is the development of the necessary component technologies and integration into a robust, compact, low-SWaP device. See the full DARPA-BAA-14-31 document attached.
