The Department of Agriculture is offering competitive grants under its Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program to support agricultural research and implementation. This grant is for advancing sustainable pest management strategies, protecting crops, and promoting environmentally sound practices. Specifically, the program encompasses three vital areas: the Crops at Risk (CAR) initiative, focusing on developing solutions for vulnerable crops; the the Risk Avoidance and Mitigation (RAMP) program, dedicated to preventing and reducing pest-related threats; and the Methyl Bromide Transitions (MBT) program, which supports the development and adoption of alternatives to this ozone-depleting fumigant. In FY 2010, approximately $8.45 million is anticipated to be available across these crucial components to foster innovative and integrated approaches in pest control, ensuring agricultural sustainability and food security.
