This Title III project shall enhance domestic production capability of Submarine Valve Regulated Lead-Acid batteries with (a) viable, world-class domestic manufacturer(s) that is/(are) responsive to customer requirements with respect to quality, delivery, and price. Project focus will be the utilization of industrial manufacturing capabilities and quality management systems for affordable productionto meet Department of Defense (DoD) submarine VRLA battery performance requirements, including an eight (8) year life expectancy with minimal submarine VRLA battery intervention (cell replacements, isolations, and/or charge-profile adjustments), given varied operational scenarios encountered in US Navy submarine operating environment. Attention will be paid to enhancing merchant supplier capabilities in order to effectively serve the broad DoD and non-DoD communities. |
