Additional Information on Eligibility:: This is a “Notice of Intent” of a single source task agreement award to Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI under the Great Lakes Northern Forest Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU). This task provides the next logical step in an ongoing project that takes advantage of unique skills, contacts,experience, and resources available to the principal investigator, including access to important economic data at little or no cost that others would have to pay substantial amounts
for. Therefore, it would be completely cost ineffective to move this project elsewhere. This
PI at Michigan State University, has excellent professional and institutional capability and experience to provide all of the skills needed to perform the scope of work. The PI’s current research specializes in visitor spending and economic impacts of recreation and tourism.

Description:: The research will update system-wide estimates of the economic impacts of national parks on local economies for FY 2011. MGM2 model spending profiles and multipliers will be updated. Estimates of direct and secondary economic impacts of visitor spending and park payrolls will be estimated for all parks based on FY 2010 recreation visits and payroll data.
