Agency Name: Golden Field Office
Description: The purpose of this RFI is to solicit feedback from industry, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, and other stakeholders on issues related to sec. 41001 of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), which appropriated $505 million “to advance energy storage systems toward widespread commercial deployment by lowering the costs and increasing the duration of energy storage resources.” The RFI lays out a proposed structure for three provisions within Sec. 41001 in line with a strategy for energy storage technology commercialization.

The intent of this RFI is to obtain public input regarding DOE’s proposed implementation possibilities of the energy storage demonstration programs and crosscutting issues related to the energy storage demonstration landscape:

• Category 1: BIL 41001 Energy Storage Program-Specific Requirements and Implementation Strategy
o Category 1A: Long-Duration Demonstration Initiative
o Category 1B: Energy Storage Demonstration Projects
o Category 1C: Energy Storage Pilot Grant Program
o Category 1D: Rapid Operational Validation Initiative (ROVI)
• Category 2: BIL 41001 Energy Storage Program Crosscutting Topics
