The Department of Energy (DOE) intends to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to facilitate the demonstration of utility-scale Concentrating Solar Technologies, encompassing Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) and Concentrating Photovoltaics (CPV). This grant is for enabling advanced solar technologies to bridge the critical gap between system development and commercial deployment. The DOE Solar Energy Technologies Program’s goal is to develop solar technologies that are competitive with conventional electricity. The FOA will support demonstrations of CSP and CPV at a sufficient scale to prove their readiness for utility-scale power production. Successful projects may then be better positioned to secure private financing for subsequent utility-scale endeavors.
