Agency Name: NAVAL FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND
Description: This project will focus on Reach F1 which is 758 linear feet, and faces west-northwest along Harper’s Creek and is bounded by Harper’s Creek to the north and east as well as the NAS PAX Station Weapons Compound to the south and west. The project will design and prepare required permits for shoreline stabilization measures along the length of Reach F1. The design should include felling one 30” diameter breast height (dbh) tree and seven smaller trees (8-12”), trim two trees and clear at least nine dead trees from the bank. The design should provide for the installation of nine off-shore segmented rock sills, each 40 feet long. To move the water’s edge away from the bank and promote a living shoreline, the design should provide for the installation of sand and planting of marsh grasses between the sills and the bank. The design should include goose fencing to protect the young marsh grasses, top soil, seed, and erosion control matting along eroded sections of the bank.
