This grant from the Department of Fish and Wildlife aims to prioritize investments in land acquisition and habitat management for waterbirds. The recipient will convert MATLAB code into R code, ensuring it aligns with the conceptual framework. The focus will be on dabbling waterfowl migration patterns. Applications are open until Aug 04, 2014.

Description: | The purpose of IWMM is to provide decision tools prioritize cost-effective federal and state investments in land acquistion and habitat management for migrating and wintering waterbirds waterfowl, shorebirds and wading birds. In support of decision at the flyway scale, we have developed a migration simulation model to provide insight to the migration of waterbirds in the Atlantic and Mississippi flyways. The receipent of this funding will convert existing MATLAB code into R compatible code and verify the code implements the conceptual framework and test the model in terms of how well the model replicates empirical distribution patterns of waterbirds for this proposal we will soley focus on dabbling waterfowl and the frequency and distance of typical migration movements. |
