Additional Information
| Agency Name: | U.S. Mission to Pakistan |
| Description: |
This funding opportunity seeks proposals that increase knowledge and awareness of trafficking in persons (TIP) and address the needs and gaps of protection mechanisms to ensure victim support and access to justice. We seek partners who engage with local communities and encourage public visibility around trafficking in persons. Proposals should aim to promote national awareness, with an aim to change public perceptions, attitudes, and behavior associated with TIP over the long-term. Related programs should connect law enforcement with victims services such as legal resources, medical help and shelter, with an aim of increasing referrals to victims services. Competitive proposals will include journalism training, a public awareness campaign, and American examples of cooperation between the courts, law enforcement, and social services to address TIP. Proposals will connect Pakistanis with American experts in person or virtually. As a result of this two-year project, a close partnership will be developed between local law enforcement and victims services as evidenced by (1) an increase in direct referrals of victims for services or rehabilitation, and (2) a developed standard operating procedure (SOP) for victim identification. Media institutions will also be better equipped to report accurately and sensitively on the issue through substantive journalism training, leading to a public that is more conscious of TIP and its victims. |
