This grant, offered by the department overseeing FHA programs, is designed to expand the PowerSaver Retrofit Pilot program to FHA’s Section 203(k) home purchase and rehabilitation program. Grants are available to currently-approved Section 203(k) lenders. The primary goals are twofold: first, to facilitate the testing and scaling of a mainstream mortgage product for home energy retrofit loans, ensuring more affordable and widely available options. Second, the initiative aims to establish comprehensive data on home energy efficiency improvements. This data will analyze impacts on energy savings, borrower income, and property value, ultimately driving the development and expansion of mainstream mortgage products that support home energy efficiency retrofits.
