This Department of Justice (DOJ) grant, under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, aims to enhance state and local law enforcement’s capacity for data-driven, evidence-based policing. It seeks innovative, effective, and economical solutions for agencies facing sudden or significant increases in crime, or specific types of criminal activity within their jurisdictions. The JAG Program serves as a primary federal funding source for state and local criminal justice systems, supporting all components. A portion of JAG funds can be specifically allocated by the Attorney General to assist states or local governments in combating, addressing, or responding to these extraordinary crime challenges. This initiative promotes strategic law enforcement responses to evolving public safety needs.
