This grant, offered by the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM), is dedicated to supporting critical fuels management and community fire assistance initiatives within Alaska. The primary purpose is to mitigate wildfire risks and enhance community resilience against the increasing threat of wildland fires. Funds will be directed towards projects that reduce hazardous fuels accumulation, restore fire-adapted ecosystems, and implement strategies for proactive wildfire prevention and response. This program seeks to foster collaboration with local communities, tribal governments, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive fire management plans. The objective is to protect lives, property, and natural resources by strategically managing landscapes and providing essential support for communities to prepare for and respond to wildfire events effectively.
