This grant, offered by the Department of Youth Services, aims to fund community-based organizations providing crucial temporary emergency shelter and counseling services for youth under 18. Its primary purpose is to address the needs of young individuals who are runaways, experiencing homelessness, or facing housing instability. Funding supports the operation of short-term shelters, including group home care and host family homes, alongside essential counseling services. The program specifically targets youth not currently engaged with the child welfare or juvenile justice systems, ensuring support for an often overlooked vulnerable population. This initiative empowers organizations to offer a safe haven and vital support, helping at-risk youth stabilize their lives.
