The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Energy is offering this grant to facilitate the development and initial testing of light water reactor (LWR) fuel concepts with enhanced accident tolerant features (ATF). This grant is for the purpose of completing early phase analysis and empirical data collection to thoroughly assess the impacts of novel ATF. Program funding will be provided with an 80% Federal cost-share and a minimum 20% industry cost-share. A total of $10 million is anticipated over two years to support awardee(s) in advancing these critical nuclear fuel technologies.

Additional Information on Eligibility: | All types of entities are eligible to apply as the primary applicant, except other Federal agencies, Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) Contractors, and nonprofit organizations described in section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 that engaged in lobbying activities after December 31, 1995. Federally-owned independent corporations may apply as either the primary applicant or as a teaming partner, but should contact the DOE (see Part VII, B of this funding opportunity announcement) for an eligibility determination. FFRDC Contractors may participate as members of a team, partnership or consortium, but may not apply as the prime. Nonprofits engaged in lobbying as described above are precluded from participating. |
