The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) is offering grants for initiatives aimed at strengthening democracy and human rights in the Africa Great Lakes Region. This funding specifically supports two key areas. Approximately $685,000 is available for a Great Lakes Regional Women’s Journalist Program, focusing on empowering women in media and promoting freedom of expression. Additionally, about $150,000 is allocated to initiatives for strengthening judicial capacity across the Great Lakes Region, vital for upholding the rule of law and ensuring equitable justice. This grant is for organizations dedicated to advancing democratic principles, human rights, and good governance, particularly through media development and judicial reform, thereby fostering stability and societal progress in the region.
