The Emerging Markets Program (EMP) offers funding to U.S. entities seeking to develop, maintain, or expand exports of U.S. agricultural commodities and products. This grant supports activities that enhance food and rural business systems in emerging markets, aiming to reduce potential trade barriers. Primarily designed for the private sector, public organizations are also eligible to apply. All U.S. agricultural commodities, excluding tobacco, are considered, provided agricultural products comprise at least 50 percent U.S. origin content by weight. The EMP funding is specifically for generic activities that promote U.S. agricultural exports in new markets, and cannot be used to support the export of other countries’ products to the U.S. or to primarily develop a foreign economy.
