The Environmental Conservation Department is offering this grant to assess the distribution of Graham and White River Penstemon, aiming to create detailed species distribution maps. This project will employ maximum entropy analysis, potentially supplemented by techniques like logistic regression, to determine the probability of occurrence. Deliverables include raster-formatted maps and a comprehensive report detailing methods, results, and all supporting datasets. This grant is for the critical purpose of providing essential data to assist developers and agencies. The information will facilitate avoiding potential conflicts with these species during future oil and gas development planning, ensuring environmental protection and responsible resource management.

| Additional Information on Eligibility: | This is a Notice of Intent to award under the Rocky Mountains CESU agreement # 60181AJ402. To University of Wyoming (University) for the purpose of a distribution assessment on two proposed species of penstemons located in the Uintah Basin. The University is uniquely qualified to conduct the proposed work. The University has performed research and conservation activities on federally listed plant species in the Uinta Basin for the past two decades and has extensive data and information on these species. In the past year the University has completed distribution assessments for five rare endemic plant species in the Uinta Basin for the USFWS. |
Additional Information
| Agency Name: | Fish and Wildlife Service |
| Description: | Upon completion of the project, species distribution maps containing the probability of occurrence will be provided in raster format. Additionally, a report detailing the methods and results, coupled with all datasets used within the habitat assessment tools will be provided. This information will be used to assist developers and agencies avoid areas of potential conflict with listed species in the planning process of future oil and gas development.
Task 1: Complete maximum entropy analysis on each of the species listed above. |
