The University of Hawaii is considered the experts in malacology within this region. Other known regional expertise in this subject matter are unavailable for the immediate performance timeframe. The University of Hawaii and Dr. Hadfield have an excellent reputation for conducting the appropriate surveys and producing the reports that are required for this project. No substantial involvement on the part of the Service is anticipated for the successful completion of the objectives to be funded. It is anticipated that the Service’s involvement will consist of standard Federal stewardship responsibilities, such as monitoring project performance, technical assistance at the request of the recipient, etc. |
