This grant, offered under the Fair Housing Initiatives Programs (FHIP), is for the purpose of empowering private, tax-exempt fair housing enforcement organizations. It enables them to investigate and enforce alleged violations of the Fair Housing Act and equivalent state and local fair housing laws. The initiative comprises three components: a General Component for broad enforcement efforts; a Performance-Based Funding Component, which rewards former grantees with excellent performance; and a Mortgage Rescue Component. The latter specifically aids in investigating and providing testing against mortgage rescue scams, thereby protecting individuals in vulnerable classes and neighborhoods. This funding is crucial for ensuring equitable housing practices and combating discriminatory activities.
