This grant, offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), provides supplemental federal assistance to State, Tribal, and local governments. Its primary purpose is to cover actual costs associated with providing emergency management, public safety, and security during National Special Security Events (NSSEs). These events are designated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security due to their national significance, requiring enhanced security operations. While the U.S. Secret Service is the lead federal agency for NSSE security, this FEMA program ensures that local jurisdictions receive crucial financial support to effectively prepare for and conduct these critical events.
