| Additional Information on Eligibility: | In accordance with 23 U.S.C. 502(b)(3), the request for application will be open the following entities: the National Academy of Sciences, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, any Federal laboratory, Federal agency, State agency, authority, association, institution, for-profit, or non-profit corporation, organization, foreign country, or any other person.
NOTE: Applicants must demonstrate how to deliver lesson plans and curriculum on SHRP2 product to students attending institutions of higher education as defined in §101 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1001). |

| Description: | This Notice of Intent (NOI) is issued so that interested parties are aware of the Federal Highway Administrations (FHWA) intention to issue a Request for Application (RFA) in the near term, but is not a request for funding applications. Subject to the availability of funds, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT)-FHWA may award up to 10 cooperative agreements for the second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2) Education Connection.
The purpose of the SHRP2 Education Connection is to increase awareness and understanding of SHRP2 products in the academic arena by incorporating SHRP2 products into collegiate level lesson plans and curricula. The SHRP2 products were developed to solve transportation problems and, therefore, lend themselves to transportation curricula such as civil and environmental engineering, and transportation planning. However, the SHRP2 products are applicable to other departments such as urban planning, economics, government, and human resources. This effort will allow the value and benefits of the SHRP2 national investment to extend through the next generation of transportation professionals. Incorporating SHRP2 products into university and college courses will expose future engineers and other transportation professionals to new tools, processes, and innovations that address emerging transportation issues and challenges. For the purpose of the planned award, FHWA will focus on three of the four SHRP2 focus area: Reliability, Renewal, and Capacity. SHRP2 is a national partnership of three key transportation organizations: FHWA) the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and the Transportation Research Board (TRB). All of the information contained in this notice is subject to change. This NOI does not include an RFA or any attachments. It only constitutes a notice of FHWAs intent to publish an RFA at a later date. Interested applicants are encouraged to monitor www.grants.gov for the RFA, as this is the method by which it will be made available to the public. No email or paper copies will be provided. The planned award has a 20% cost sharing requirement. |
